Bellows Camera

When photographing, Mann has chosen to remain using the bellows camera, which was first used in the 19th century.  This is an 8 by 10 camera which uses the platinum printing process and bromoil printing process.  She has also used the wet plate collodion process which appears to be a mixture of photography, sculpture, and painting.  Because Mann uses this 19th century method of photography her photographs appear to be taken from long ago and have many “imperfections” creating a timeless effect.  This method that she uses categorizes her camerawork into more of the 19th century period of photography as opposed to modern day.
